This question gets even more interesting when one considers that these gigantic monstrosities have been trotted out, sometimes directly upon the heels of the crisis they are supposed to solve, meaning that they had to have been written before the crisis occurred. We do know that news reporters are at least capable of curiosity. We saw multiple teams dispatched to valiantly dig through Sarah Palin’s garbage. We have seen them breathlessly await the selection of a White House dog. We saw them drool with expectant giddiness over Michelle’s next outfit. We’ve even witnessed their past agony over the veracity of an alleged remark about a pubic hair on a coke can.
