Who writes proposals?
All sorts of people write proposals. Again we see the basic dichotomy between internal and external documents. • Sometimes you might write a proposal to your boss proposing that you be given the time and the money and perhaps the facilities to correct some kind of in-house problem. • Sometimes you might write a proposal to another company or organization showing that your (or your organization) has a product/a solution that you can provide that will solve a problem. Proposal can be solicited or unsolicited: • With a solicited proposal, you are responding to an Request For Proposals (RFP). • With an unsolicited proposal, you show a need/a problem that the readers may or may not have recognized, and you explain what you will do to correct the problem. • Internal / Unsolicited Proposal Example: You might be working as a network manager and you see that by reconfiguring the network, you can make the network run more efficiently. So you write a proposal to your boss asking for time and mone
