Who writes NORTHSTAR study guides?
First, our writers are the secret to our success. We “hire” writers who are subject matter experts to author all of our material. Most of our writers are enlisted personnel on active duty in the Navy. We have one writer who is retired (and keeps in close contact with his subject area) and several writers on active duty who are LDOs. They know the job and are able to construct questions and answers they believe the test takers should know to help get a good exam score. Some of our writers have started out as E-6s and have been promoted, using their own material, and are now wearing khakis. Since 1978 (when we started) we’ve only had a couple of writers that we had to replace because they were promoted to E-8 or E-9 and just lost touch with their rating. And, anytime we get an inquiry concerning anything in one of our study guides, we immediately refer it to the appropriate writer for comment. In other words, we hold our writers accountable! We will not sell anything we can’t stand 100%
