Who would provide police protection for the City of Fairwood?
The city would contract with the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) for police services. Over 20 cities in King County already use this highly cost-effective model. Given Fairwood’s surplus revenue, our current level of police staffing with King County would at least be doubled! Cities have access to special units such as K9, SWAT, and detectives as needed and don’t need to maintain them in the city itself. Officers would wear uniforms with “Fairwood” on them, and police vehicles would say “Fairwood” on them. The police chief would work directly with the city to plan public safety services, and would work with the City Manager and Fire Chief to develop an Emergency Plan for the city.
