Who would have thought Tangerine Dream could sound this phat?
I can’t get this out of my CD player. It’s some of the most beautiful music around. It’s danceable, but the beat isn’t prominent, it’s only there to keep rhythm. The beat styles tend to be somewhere around house and breakbeats, and has an excellent groove to it, but the music is distinctly Tangerine Dream. The sounds of the songs change enough to keep it interesting, and nothing gets excessively repetitive, though there are times when one might say that the songs change too much and too drastically, like “Virtually Fields.” Like with any dance music, there are breakdowns, but they are brief, and typically keep a beat going, despite being a breakdown. If, by some chance, one of these songs was played at a club or a rave, they would not leave you standing around wondering when the hell the music was going to start again. The main instruments are usually piano-like or guitar-like, and sometimes there’s a pan flute. But there is a wide variety of sounds, both organic and techno-like. The C
