Who won the the rugby world cup in 1995?
The Springboks of South Africa deservedly won the 1995 Rugby World Cup by beating the New Zealand All Blacks in the final at Ellis Park, Johannesburg 24 June 1995. Final Score 15-12 with the Springbok flyhalf Joel Stransky kicking the winning drop goal in extra time. The bad losers New Zealand claimed that they had food poisoning although no mention of this was made before the game-clearly a poor excuse for losing. The last time they won the World Cup was 1987! Shame! The Springboks were the better team. Jonah Lomu of New Zealand was completely tackled out of the game and has NEVER scored a try against the Springboks.
South Africa won the 1995 Rugby World Cup but from what I remember it was a little controversial. New Zealand were playing the best rugby in the tournament – and Jonah Lomu was stomping on everyone – but some of the players got food poisoning before the final game… how convenient for the home team.
