Who won the Ricky Hatton vs Manny Pacquiao fight?
By Errol Hyppolite: Round 1 – From the opening bell, Manny’s footwork and upper body movement frustrated Hatton. Hatton who was supposed to have an improved jab was not able to get it going. Hatton also quickly found out that he wasn’t quite able to exert his size on Manny as he thought he would. In clenches both fighters were giving as good as they were getting. As Hatton began to try and work his way inside he came in with his hands low and got timed on the way in with left hooks and left hands. About two minutes into Round 1 Manny landed an excellent 3-4 punch combination followed by a left hook that put Ricky down for the 1st time in the fight. Hatton was certainly shocked but did the right thing in taking a knee to try and keep his composure. Unfortunately after knockdown, Ricky was not able to clench effectively and after Manny landed another combination that ended with a left hand Hatton was down for a second time. Reporting from Las Vegas — Manny Pacquiao stunned Ricky Hatton with a left hook to the side of the head, knocking the Brit to the canvas and bringing their junior-welterweight title fight to a stunning end with a second to go in the second round tonight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The heavily hyped bout figured to be a close one but Pacquiao set Hatton up with right hooks in the first round, knocking him down twice.
