(WLFI) – Astrong effort on the road by Purdue football came up just two points shy as Oregon fends off a Boilermaker rally to edge Purdue 38-36 Saturday, September 12 at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon. The Boilermakers pulled within 38-36 on a 15-yard touchdown pass by wide receiver Keith Smith to Aaron Valentin on 4th and 11 with 1:01 remaining in the game. Purdue went for the game-tying 2-point conversion moments later, only to have a potential game-tying conversion pass from Joey Elliott to Kyle Adams be ruled incomplete, the officials ruling Adams was out of bounds when making the catch. The Ducks recovered the ensuing onsides kick and ran out the clock. Purdue is now 1-1 on the season and will host Nothern Illinois Saturday, September 19 at Ross-Ade Stadium.
