A Kenner man who won the $1.8 million Lotto jackpot plans to use some of the money to pay for a family wedding. Charles Spansel Jr., 57, bought the winning ticket for the June 6 drawing at M&J Fuel on North Rampart Street in New Orleans, according to a statement Wednesday from the Louisiana Lottery Corp. For two weeks, Spansel kept his winnings a secret from his family. “One of my daughters was getting married eight days later, so I thought it would be best if I waited. I didn’t want to steal the spotlight from her day,” the statement quoted him saying. On Father’s Day he told his wife and children. He claimed the prize July 1. Spansel said his late father had predicted he would win the lottery. “It’s fitting that I shared the big news with everyone on Father’s Day.
