Who will win the 2009 NBA Championship: Orlando Magic or the LA Lakers?
In the two regular season match-ups between the two teams, the Magic have a 2-0 record against the Lakers. Both of these games, however, were close (decided by an average of 4.5 points). Now, having said that, this is the NBA Finals, and the Lakers have the experience in this match-up. History has shown that teams that make it to the NBA Finals for the first time, especially when facing opponents who have been there before, do not fare well. Plus, the 2-3-2 game set-up favors the team with homecourt advantage (i.e., Lakers). But if you examine the match-ups, this is about as even of a series as you’ll see. They should be just about even in every statistical category in all of their games, and I believe the games will be determined by turnovers, fastbreak points, the three point shooting of the Magic, and Dwight Howard’s ability to hit free throws. I am going to say that the Lakers will win in 6, but these games should be nailbiters to the end.
