Who will use the station/why is another station needed?

It is important that we encourage increased rail usage. However, due to a lack of car parking spaces and planned decrease in these spaces, at the existing station, it is difficult to encourage a significant increase in rail passengers, as many passengers desire park and rail facilities. There is no potential to increase the car park spaces at the town station and therefore we are unable to provide for a key group of park and rail users. The proposed Parkway Station will cater for these potential users and it is predicted to increase net rail demand at both Stratford Station by between c.94,000 – c.114,000 passenger trips per annum by 2024/25; depending upon which of the nearby housing developments are progressed. This will significantly benefit the town station as will provide the demand and revenue needed to make the case for improvements to the station and train services.
