Who will send an ambulance to my home if the EMS Levy is not renewed?
This is a good question and we do not have a good answer at this time. The Key Peninsula Fire Department (KPFD) has enjoyed mutual aid agreements with our neighboring fire districts for many years. South Kitsap Fire and Rescue has already notified in writing that they will not be able to support this mutual aid agreement for ambulance service if the residents on the Key Peninsula do not approve the EMS Levy. Gig Harbor Fire and Medic One has also taken a similar stance although not in writing yet. It is not fair of our neighboring districts to use resources paid for by their residents to provide services for the citizens on the Key Peninsula. The only alternative left would be to utilize private ambulance services. There are many variables when talking about private ambulances such as will one be dedicated to the Key Peninsula or will we have to call for one from Gig Harbor or even Tacoma.
