Who will refund an overpayment to the consumer?
A. Different answers apply in different situations. Situation 1: If no payments have been made to your office since the account has been in collections and we receive an overpayment in our office, we will gladly refund that overpayment to the consumer. Situation 2: If no payments have been made to our office and you receive an overpayment in your office, the refund must come from you. Situation 3: If payments or adjustments have been made to the account in your office but we have not been advised and we then receive an overpayment in our office, since our account does not reflect an accurate balance making it impossible for us to know that an overpayment has been made, the refund must come from you.
