The Fabulous Thunderbirds are the latest act to sign on to the 2010 Doheny Blues Festival, joining headliners Crosby, Stills & Nash and the Black Crowes. For more than 30 years, The Fabulous Thunderbirds have been the quintessential American band, recording 20 albums and selling millions. The group’s distinctive and powerful sound, influenced by a diversity of musical styles, manifested itself into a unique musical hybrid through such barnburners as “Tuff Enuff” and “Wrap It Up.” Founding member Kim Wilson still leads the group as it evolves into its newest incarnation. “We started as a straight blues band.” vocalist and harmonica player Wilson said in a statement. “We now incorporate a mixture of a lot of different styles. We’re an American music band and we’re higher energy than ever before.” The Fabulous Thunderbirds features Jay Moeller on drums, Johnny Moeller and Mike Keller on guitar, and Randy Bermudes on bass. The Festival runs May 22 and 23. General admission for adults is $5
