Who will own the intellectual property created by ASL?
The University’s patent and copyright policies are intended to encourage a healthy atmosphere conducive to research and development through a system of rewards and incentives for the creation of intellectual property, while at the same time giving proper consideration to the responsibilities that the school has as a public land-grant university. Intellectual property agreements are generally established at the time a research contract is negotiated. WSU’s intellectual property policies aim to promote the progress of science and technology, to assure that discoveries and inventions are used to benefit the public, and to provide appropriate royalty revenues to the University and the inventor(s).
