Who will get the new meters?

0

Nearly all of our residential customers across our entire territory – 1.5 million customers in Florida and 1.2 million in the Carolinas – will receive a new meter. In Florida, the program starts in July and will be finished by the end of 2006. In the Carolinas, installation will start in September and be complete in early 2007. Residential customers on either of two special rate schedules – called time-of-use or demand rates – will not be part of the new program because they have a different type of meter. Those special meters are not cost-effective to convert or are not compatible with this technology. Those two rate schedules affect 50 residential customers in Florida and 30,000 residential customers in the Carolinas.
