Who will determine what the dominant renewable fuels of the future will be?
The political system needs to create the necessary conditions for renewable fuel to be phased into the market. Obviously new fuels need to be sound from an environmental standpoint but it is also important that they can succeed under market conditions. Solutions should preferably be developed at an EU or international level. We at Volvo are prepared to contribute with our experience and our expertise. Over the years we have amassed extensive knowledge about various fuels – both the environmental performance of fuels from a life-cycle perspective and how they work in combustion engines.
