Who will cover the costs of donating a kidney?
For donors who are residents of Alberta, the health care costs of donating a kidney (testing, surgery, hospital stay, etc.) are covered by Alberta Health Care. Donors from out-of-province or out-of-country will have their expenses covered by the recipients health care.However, donors are responsible for their own travel expenses, medications, accommodations, lost wages and personal expenses.
