Who will build and manage Zapata Apartments? Are they from the community?
Our neighbors are behind this project. Community residents led the development of the Zapata Apartments and many are active in Logan Square Neighborhood Association and Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation. Locally based Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation will develop this project on vacant lots it specifically purchased for the development of Zapata Apartments. Bickerdike subsidiary, Humboldt Construction Company will build the development creating jobs for local residents and emphasizing the use of local subcontractors and local suppliers. Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation is a not-for-profit community development corporation with a 42 year legacy of improving Logan Square, Humboldt Park, West Town and Hermosa. Bickerdike invests and actively participates in the uplift of the neighborhood through leadership development initiatives such as community gardens, youth sports programs, community safety campaigns and much more.
