Who will benefit from HUDs budget request for $85 million for Housing Choice Vouchers to address homelessness?
The vouchers are going to be dedicated to two homeless subpopulations. Approximately 4,000 vouchers will be targeted to chronically homeless persons in an effort to build on the successful efforts to bring an end to chronic homelessness that have been undertaken in recent years. Approximately 6,000 vouchers will be targeted to homeless and near homeless families to address this problem which has been exacerbated by recent economic conditions.
