Who will be the next “Mr. Cub” for the Chicago Cubs?
I don’t know if there will ever be another Mr. Cub like before but if there was any candidate on their current roster it would have to be Alfonso Soriano. The reason is simple. He has one of the highest paid contracts in all of baseball. If the Cubs signed him to that outrages an amount, well over $120 million, than they would have had to have had some faith in him being able to make the kind of status with the team that Mr. Cub holds. Alfonso Soriano also has the kind of batting ability that could make him well loved by Cubs fans. Not only can he hit the ball out of the park on a regular basis, but his speed on the bases makes him great for playing the National League style of ball. Don’t forget that Soriano is in the first year of a very long contract. He will be ith the team for years, and while others may come and go in his tenure, he will still be there. His longevity, his abilities and his hefty salary make him the best candidate for the title of Mr. Cub. Anything short of that w
