QOF assessors have many of the skills necessary. It has been suggested that PCTs could ‘exchange’ facilitators for the purposes of assessment. The IM&T DES specifies that you cannot help a practice in their preparation for data accreditation and also be the assessor for that practice. It is strongly recommended that the assessor has a clinical background. Guidance on the skills needed by assessors is available here.
