Who will allocate Prop.36 funds?
The state Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs (ADP) is the lead agency for Prop. 36 implementation, and therefore it receives the initial appropriations each year from the state’s General Fund. After the first $60 million was allocated to prepare for the first defendants coming into the system July 1, 2001, an additional $120 million is appropriated each year for the next five years.
