Who were the two most important leaders of the Great Awakening in colonial America?
Jonathan Edwards — the Great Theologian of the Age, and the Puritan church pastor who first observed the Revival in his congregation — even though he himself was not a good orator or speaker. He read his sermons outloud in a monotone voice. George Whitefield, an evangelist and speaker from England, soon became the main focus. He spoke to the people out in public places, such as open fields, with much better speaking skill than Edwards, and continued the movement throughout New England.
