Who were the twelve Knights of the Round Table from Arthurian Legend?
The names of the knights seated at the Round Table vary by author or story, as do their numbers. Such differences were common in Arthurian legend, as the stories were told and written by numerous poets and writers, spanning several centuries,and were written in several different languages. For example, in early texts, Perceval, a knight of the Round Table, was the Grail hero and the only knight able to sit in the Siege Perilous (a seat reserved only for a chaste knight, pure of heart), without dying . In later texts (Vulgate Cycle, Post-Vulgate Cycle, etc.) Galahad, also a knight of the Round Table, is named the Grail hero and the only knight able to sit at the Siege Perilous without dying.
