Who were the three wise men?

First and foremost…….it was not a “star”, but rather a comet, that appeared in the sky and thus appeared to “move” across the sky. Perhaps Brighter and bigger than most, as it passed CLOSER than any star could have. The Wise men, were not themselves astrologers, but wise kings, who no doubt had astrologers in their court, who they conferred with about these unusual sightings in the sky. Most legends and prohesises, all foretell the birth of a KING, by some amazing event or stunning spectacle. The wise men that made the trip……brought gifts, befitting the birth of a future king. The bible mentions that angels appeared and heralded the news, and the “star” would GUIDE them. While their voyages took time……it did not take YEARS…….and the commonly accepted wisdom is, they arrived about two weeks later, on Jan 6th…….celebrated in the Christian world, as they day they actually arrived and bowed down and worshipped and handed over those gifts. Where any actual truth lays….

Well the astrological explanation is that the three stars in Orions belt (formerly known as the three “kings”), align with the brightest star in the night sky (Sirius) on Christmas Eve. The 4 stars point to the direction of the point of the sun rise on December 25th. Hence the story that the 3 kings or wise men, followed the star in the east to the birthplace of the Son.
