The Best Laid Plans was a best selling novel published in the year 1997 written by crime fiction related thriller author Sidney Sheldon. The protagonist, as in many other novels by Sidney Sheldon, was a woman. In this novel it was Leslie Stewart who is seeking revenge from her fiancée, who she feels betrayed him. The other main characters are Oliver Russell the fiancée of Leslie and presidential candidate. Then there is Jan the wife of Oliver Russell, Senator Todd Davis the person who is bank rolling Oliver Russell in his campaign. Others include Peter Tager campaign manager for Oliver Russell, Dana Evans who also appeared later in another book by Sheldon, Kemal a twelve year old who Dana Evans has brought over from Bosnia, and finally the three women killed by an overdose of ecstasy including Lisa Burnette, Miriam Fried-land and Chloe Houston.
