He was President during the Bay of Pigs ‘invasion’ in 1961, the first American manned space launch in 1961, when the Russians built the Berlin Wall in 1961, much of the early civil rights movement, including the March on Washington in 1963 and the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.
