Who were Davids parents?
David’s father was Haywood Stenton Jones (known as ‘John’), born at 41 St. Sepulchre Gate, Doncaster, South Yorkshire DN1 1TD, on 21st November 1912. (Originally the building was the premises of the Public Benefit Boot Company). His parents (David’s grandparents) were Robert Haywood Jones and Zilla Hannah Jones. Haywood passed away on 5th August 1969 of pneumonia. David’s mother was Margaret Mary Jones (nee Burns) (known as ‘Peggy’), born at 15 Meadow Road, Southborough, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, TN4 0HL, on 2nd October 1913. Margaret passed away on 2nd April 2001 aged 88. Her parents (David’s grandparents) were James Edwards Burns and Margaret Alice Heaton. They first met at the Ritz Cinema in Tunbridge Wells where Peggy worked was a waitress in the restaurant. Haywood worked as a Public Relations Officer for Dr. Barnardo’s Childrens’ Homes at Stepney Causeway.
