Who was Vera Lynn…Pink Floyd sings about her?
I would think Dame Vera Lynn is well known without the aid of Pink Floyd, but never mind. She is a singer, and to a lot of people embodies the ‘spirit of Britain’ during WW2. Patriotic songs such as ‘(There’ll Be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs Of Dover’ and ‘We’ll Meet Again’ kept everyone entertained. She was still going strong at the 50th celebrations of VE Day in 1995 although I haven’t heard much about her lately. http://www.theiceberg.com/artist.html?artist_id=1117 is just one of many sites on Dame Vera (and you could have Googled for her yourself without needing to ask the question, btw).
