Who was the teddy bear named after?
The teddy bear was named after President Theodore Roosevelt. In 1902 the President was in Mississippi dealing with their border dispute with Louisiana. While he was there he went on a hunting trip where they tied a black bear cub to a tree for the President to shoot. He refused and let the bear go.
