Who was the original Iron Maiden singer ?

0

The first singer was Paul Day who was with the band from 1975-1976, he was then replaced by Dennis Wilcock (1976-1977). Neither recorded with the band. Wilcock was wore make up and used pyrotechnics during the band’s sets. He fell out with Dave Murray and left the band. He was replaced by Paul Di’Anno. He is maybe the singer you are thinking of and was with the band between 1977 and 1981. He sang on two Iron Maiden albums, Iron Maiden and Killers and also several single including Women In Uniform (cracking video) and the Maiden Japan EP. Di’anno has somewhat of a punk attitude and short spiked hair. He was partly credited for their early success and co-wrote the first single Running Free. His lifestyle lead to early burnout and was replaced by Dickinson. Di’anno has had a number of bands, including one called Killer and published his autobiography a few years ago, called the Beast.
