Who was the most influential person in history?
Regardless of one’s religious beliefs, I think one has to admit that Jesus was the most influential person in history. The most influential person is the one whose life and teaching has and is influencing the most people. Jesus is of course a central influence on the 2.1 (Adherents.com) to 2.23 billion Christians (World Christian Database), and is also highly respected as a prophet by the 1.4 – 1.5 billion Muslims today. In 1800 and in 1900 the numbers of Christians and Muslims were by far the largest religious groups (with more than twice as many Christians as Muslims). The teachings of Jesus in the Bible have been translated into more languages than any other person’s writings. By 2006 at least one book of the New Testament had been translated into 2,426 languages and the entire New Testament had been translated into 1,144 by 2007 with 1,953 additional languages translation programs underway.
