Who was the hanging gardens of Babylon built by?
About 2,600 years ago, King Nebuchadnezzar II had the Hanging Gardens of Babylon built on the rooftops and terraces of his palace. The gardens were intended to end the homesickness of his wife Amytis of Media for the fragrant plants and trees of her native land. They were one of the seven wonders of the ancient world until they were destroyed by earthquakes about 2,100 years ago.
