Who was the fourth Hawkman?
Carter Hall, the original Hawkman, sort of. His hair is brown, now (perhaps averaging Katar Hol’s black hair with Carter’s original blonde hair), and his chest is partially hairy (perhaps averaging Katar Hol’s hairy chest with Carter’s original unhairy chest). Oddly, his chest hair often disappears in closeups and reappears in distant shots. How did he return? Kendra Saunders (a distant relative of Shiera Sanders and the apparent reincarnation of Shiera) reached into a pit on Thanagar and pulled him out. That’s all there was to it. Well, there was a bit of mystic mumbo-jumbo too. The pit in question was called “the well of spirits, a gateway to the infinite”. Apparently wells of spirits are pretty trivial to create, as the Thanagarian Tarak whips one up on a moment’s notice to send the JSA back home.
