Who was the first X-Man?
While Xavier did bring Scott Summers to his mansion first to become the first X-Man, it was revealed in the 1960s that he actually had already been helping Jean Grey cope with her telepathic powers. Thus, Jean was his first real mutant student, and, by extension, his first X-Man, even though Cyclops was the first of his mutant students to don a costume and call himself an X-Man. Concurrently, Sage served as an early agent of Xavier’s when she was recruited as a spy and planted with the Hellfire Club. However she did not become an X-Man until years later.
