The Wright brothers did not go into space, incidentally Yuri Gagarin was the third man in space two other Soviet cosmonauts were put into space before Gagarin the first one was killed when the parachutes on his capsule failed to open on his return to earth, the second one landed in China thousands of miles of course where he was arrested and charged with espionage. Both these attempts were covered up as they were not considered a success..
