Who was the bushranger murdered in Woolshed, Victoria by his friend Joe Byrne?
The bushranger you asked about was a man named Aaron Sherritt who was a sympathiser with the Kelly Gang and also a Police informer. The circumstances are too detailed to add here. He was shot and killed by Joe Byrne a member of the gang and, ironically, Sherritt’s closest friend. This occurred on the evening of Saturday 26 June 1880. Also present with Byrne was Dan Kelly, Ned’s brother. The murder was part of the Kelly’s plan to lure the police to the ambush at Glenrowan.
