Clearly Thorpe was more versatile, but when I think of athletic prowess, I’m a believer in the bigger, faster, stronger athlete of the modern era. But had Thorpe had the advantages of modern day facilities, nutrition and training, then there’d be a more realistic gauge to compare them.
