George David Payne (1853 1916) was trained in London as an architect and migrated in about 1887 to Sydney, New South Wales where he was employed in the architectural firm, Loweish and Moorhouse. In March 1898 he was accepted as a draftsman in the Queensland Department of Public Works. His major work was St Andrews.
