Who was Shaka Zulu and what was his significance?
Not only did Shaka Zulu had a pretty cool name, but he was a kind of scary guy. He became chief over a tribe that his people conquered- the Zulu King. He built up a Zulu army, and demanded a terrifying amount of loyalty. Even the slightest hessitation of following his orders could result in a soldier’s death. He did come up with revolutionary ideas when it came to war. He dedicated parts of his army to making weapons, he created battle tactics that had never been heard of before, and conditioned his soldiers like no one had ever done before. Although his battle tactics were something new, his taste for revenge was not. He killed many people and spared only the few that had shown him or his mother kindness. When his mother died, he had some seven thousand people killed as a sacrifice. He also forced his tribe to fast in her memory, and only lifted the fast when many were nearly starved to death.
