He was the Vice Pres. at the time of the Watergate crimes. If Ford had been V.P. at the time of the crimes, his eligibility for automatic presidency upon Nixon’s resignation would have been questionable–especially as he intended to provide a blanket pardon for Nixon. Agnew never would have gotten away with that if he’d made it to the Presidency. For that reason I stand on S. Agnew
