Who was in the cast of the original Goonies that is now a star?
Three cast members of The Goonies movie (released in 1985) have become stars. Josh Brolin, who played handsome Brand Walsh in the movie, has become the biggest star. He has been nominated for an Oscar for his recent role in Milk, and he is married to another Hollywood celebrity, Diane Lane. To top things off, he’s the son of acting legend James Brolin. Sean Astin, who played main character Mikey Walsh, has also become famous. He is Patty Duke’s son and he starred in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Goonies is a 1985 adventure-comedy film directed by Richard Donner. The screenplay was written by Chris Columbus from a story by executive producer Steven Spielberg. A band of kids from the “Goon Docks” neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon, hoping to save their homes from demolition, go on an adventure to find the buried treasure of One-Eyed Willy, a legendary 17th-century pirate. The film featured performances by a number of child actors: Sean Astin as Michael “Mikey” Walsh, the Goonie who leads them to find One-Eyed Willie’s treasure. For the whole movie, he wears a gray shirt with a denim jacket and a pair of blue jeans. Although Mikey suffers from asthma and has to take his medication several times during the adventure, he continually acts as the group’s never-ending supply of enthusiasm and spirit.
