I think that both the movie and the book were outstanding. The book sent off an amazing image in my mind in-order for me to picture the “happenings” included through the lives of these young kids. In the movie, I thought it sent off a different type of perspective, and yet it was very well done because of the fact that it was changed a bit, though, it was basically a better image of the story where you can see through your eyes, so that you were able to picture and make out with what you originally were thinking. Very well done! Jo Ellen Misakian, a librarian at Lone Star Jr. High School in Fresno, California and her students, were responsible for inspiring Coppola to make the movie. The Outsiders is noted for being the breakout film of many future stars. The movie earned C. Thomas Howell a Young Artist Award, became the first Brat Pack movie (with Rob Lowe and Emilio Estevez cast as supporting Greasers), and further established the careers of Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Ralph Macchio, and Diane Lane.
