Eleven inmates were stabbed or otherwise injured Thursday morning during a fight at the maximum security division of the Cook County Jail on the Southwest Side. At 5:14 a.m., paramedics initiated an EMS Plan 1 response for multiple stabbing victims at the Cook County Jail at 2600 S. California Ave., according to Fire Media Affairs Chief Kevin MacGregor. Three victims were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious to critical condition and two were taken in “stable” condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Quention Curtis said. The “majority” of those hospitalized suffered stab wounds, according to MacGregor, who said none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
