WHO WAS ELEANOR OF AQUITAINE?
Eleanor of Aquitaine was a interesting woman to say the least. She lived from 1122 – 1204 and at one time was Queen consort of France and Queen consort of England as well as being the Duchess of Aquitaine. She was very wealthy and very powerful and mother to the famous Richard the Lionheart who fought in the Third Crusade. She was also the mother of King John who ruled England from April 1199 to October 1216.
