Who was Dr. Ida Rolf?
Rolfing is an original and scientifically validated system of bodywork developed by Dr. Ida P. Rolf in the 1950’s. While studying the principles of osteopathy, chiropractic, yoga, and homeopathy, Dr. Rolf discovered that the organization of the basic segments of the body (head, shoulders, thorax, pelvis, and legs) is a function of balanced tension in the body’s connective tissue. Through her research in biochemistry she discovered that connective tissue, specifically fascia, is a plastic and moldable substance that is capable of significant and lasting change through sensitive manipulation.
