Who was Coretta Scott King?
Coretta Scott King, together with her husband, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., had worked hard to support Human Rights. When Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in 1968, she could have retired from public office and devoted herself to raising her four children. Instead, Coretta Scott King carried on her husband’s work, trying to fulfill his dream of an America in which all people had equal rights. Since that time she became a forceful public figure and an important leader in the civil rights movement.
