Who was Bud Dwyer?
Dwyer served as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1965 to 1970, the Pennsylvania Senate from 1970 to 1980, and as state treasurer from 1980 until his death. In late 1986, Dwyer was charged as having agreed to accept a related kickback of $300,000. Dwyer never actually received any money. He shot and killed himself on a televised press conference. I’ve actually seen this and it’s chilling.
