Often referred to in later years as Lady Blubeard, the gruesome story of the Belle Gunness murders was formidable enough to inspire folklore and folksong. Belle is believed to have murdered upwards of forty people during her bloody reign at a La Porte, Indiana hog farm in the early nineteen hundreds, although to date, only twelve bodies and several miscellaneous body-parts have been discovered on her former property.
